Lizzie & Dante by Mary Bly

4.5

Was hopping for a HEA but still expecting some tears.

📚 single dad
📚 devastating diagnosis
📚 summer holiday romance

|Thoughts|
This is an emotional one. A summer fling that turns into more. But either way there is a time limit on their romance.

This one will make you cry but still loved the story and characters.

“I would love to live to seventy-three. Sorry, I’m still getting my head around it”

There were some POV’s from his daughter which added a sweet element and insight into her actions. Enjoyed her attempts to get Lizzie & Dante tougher, Parent Trap style.

“Eat your heart out, Parent Trap. This was way cooler”

It’s also sweet to see the mother/ daughter bond develop between Etta & Lizzie. Even if they were both unsure of their next step.

“But this was the way that a mum would take a nap with her daughter”

Maybe one too many long winded phyilisophical conversations for my taste. But beyond that it wa a heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time.

“She felt oddly empty, because now another person-maybe the most important person, knew she wasn’t going to be in the world for long”

|Synopsis|
When she was looking for anything but romance Lizzie escapes on a holiday to romantic Italian island. Distracted by the locals, Lizzie may discover her future has more to offer.

“Most people are boring. Books are better”
