Who would have thought that a novel that has next to no plot, is mostly just backstory and exposition, and told in a disjointed way would be so good? This is a fantastic novel, filled with emotion, where all the characters feel real, as if the people Egan created could actually exist out in the real world, and experience the things they do in this novel.
