REREAD August 2021: I actually think this is my favourite out of the three books in this series. It is very action-packed and the plot twists are great. I did remember the one in the end, but I didn´t know how they solved it and therefore, I was very excited to read the ending again. This time, I did like the characters and the love story (also because it´s a bit less prominent than in Illuminae). And I really enjoyed the illustrations in Hanna´s diary as well.

Great, great book! But still, I can't give this the full 5s. And I can't say if I liked Illuminae better or not either...

I actually had quite the same issues with this book as with the first one. I needed some time to get into it, I wasn't a huge fan of the characters at the beginning and the storyline was kind of predictable during the first half, especially because there are many similarities to the storyline of Illuminae.
BUT then there were things I didn't expect - and I love when this happens.
This book tricked me. I can't tell you much without spoiling but holy crap this ending! It is in my opinion probably the best part of this book!

And then there is this little paradox of this book. It is very fast paced and I definitely wanted to know what happens next all the time. That's positive! But sadly, because I wanted to know the ending and because of the loose format I couldn't concentrate well on all the things happening. I skimmed a lot and I know this is my own failure, but it really was the only way to keep reading sometimes. I hope that makes any sense.
It's still a worthy conclusion though. The entire series is a great adventure and I recommend experiencing it yourself.
