This is about a family in Belfast going through the raids of WW2. We see the various family members' lives. The parts about the family had a lens of warmth and a familial vibe to them. But I wasn't so keen on the war bits. I guess I have read so many stories about WW2 and although an important historical moment, I am fatigued with the topic. Sadly I have more war books on my tbr. This is more my preference than any fault from the author of course. As for the way the gay topic was covered, I wasn't thrilled with it. Another tale of a gay not surviving. Although, I am sure this probably happened a lot during the war, I am kinda over sad gay stories. I want happy endings for same sex narratives. I give this one a 4/5.
