All's Well by Mona Awad
Did not finish book. Stopped at 75%.
DNF at 75% - All is not Well - the main character annoyed me too much.
A surreal exploration of chronic pain, women's believability and visibility, and desperation that straddles the line between comedy and horror.
Miranda is a college drama teacher who suffers from chronic pain following an accident. She found some sense of contentment in directing the Shakespeare play All’s Well That Ends Well, until the school board changes it to Macbeth.
Let the play commence!
The tone oscillates disconcertedly between academia, pain, witch craft, illusionary baths, awkward strangers in the bar changing your vision, mind numbing experiences…
Not as weird or bizarre or confusing as Bunny but it still has that Mona Awad unreliable narrator craziness. What is real and what is imagined?
The main character though… she was so unlikable and normally I can get along with that. But the plot was also boring and I couldn’t cooker to any of the side characters either.
