Overall I really liked the book, but just know what you're getting into before you start (unlike me). I loved the twist on Jasmine's story in a modern setting. Having Jafar as a love interest worked really well. It was a little weird at first as other Disney character names began to pop up and intertwine with the story but it ends up working just fine. I appreciate that Jasmine is skeptical of Jafar at first. However, trust was earned pretty quick and it was basically insta love more than enemies to lovers. Please check the content warnings on this one though because it was about 50% spice and includes BDSM.
Graphic: Confinement, Death, Sexual content, Violence, Blood, Kidnapping, Death of parent, Murder, and Sexual harassment
Minor: Rape, Vomit, and Alcohol
In this story, Jasmine is basically the daughter of a mob boss. So, as could be expected in a turf war there will be violence and death. The book also starts with Jasmine being kidnapped and held in confinement. This book walks a fine line for those who will struggle with sexual content with consenting non consent. In the beginning especially, it's implied that there's already a no-go word in place but it's not used and does feel forced. As the book progresses it's discussed more openly and becomes clearly consenting even if the relationship leaves things to be desired. The enemy in this story is Ali and he is very predatory and does sexually harass Jasmine when the opportunity was presented.
