Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas

Hot and taboo in all the best ways.

I love an age gap romance and this one really hit the mark for me.

Both Pike and Jordan were required to mature at a younger age than most people as well as take on extra responsibilities while their friends were out partying. They are hard working, pulling up their sleeves to lend a hand and loyal to a fault. They get along great and settled into a steady routine after they have to live together. The only problem is that Jordan is dating Pike's son Cole, and the reason they are living together is that Cole got himself evicted from their rental.

The instant attraction and tension between Pike and Jordan had me never wanting to put the book down, waiting for the moment something happened between them. The relationship building and the characters' personalities helps make this one of the best age gap romances I've read because it makes sense as to why this 19 year old woman would be interested in pursuing a 38 year old man.

I really liked that this book followed a realistic time frame compared to books that have all the events occuring within a matter of days. The slow build up to that inevitable first spicy scene was delicious and I love a woman who is willing to enjoy the tease.

I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to explore an age gap romance as it's a gentle entry into the genre.

P.S. Where do I get myself a Pike?
