Learn Spanish with Paul Noble by Paul Noble

5.0

I just finished this audiobook, and I am surprised how different it is from other language-learning audiobooks. Paul Noble talks at a very slow, deliberate pace, explaining concepts in detail, and allowing the listener to absorb new concepts. He talks in British English, and after a pause his words, phrases and sentences are then followed by Spanish speakers; a man and a woman. The man speaks with a Latin American pronunciation, while the woman speaks with a Castillian pronunciation.

I enjoyed this audiobook, as Paul Noble is a delightful host, and his pronunciation hints and tips are sometimes a bit humorous--maybe not intentionally so. The pace is good, and the approach fits my learning style. Occasionally I had to use an English-Spanish dictionary, to understand which letters were being pronounced. That is a problem with many audiobooks; it is difficult to be sure which consonants the Spanish speakers are using. For example, I thought that the Spanish word for "card" was being pronounced "carreta", when it actually is "tarjeta".

I recommend this audiobook to other beginners learning to speak Spanish. It's a good approach, not too fast and not too slow.
