What an insanely original book, a girls field hockey team set in the 1980s New England who start using witchcraft to win games. This was fantastic autumn book, most of the games take place during the fall so it’s like you can experience the season with them. This took me a month to read because this book is extremely dense, at times it took me days to get through one chapter. I could understand if people don’t love the writing style/pace, it’s a lot! Despite the book being only 360 pages I really needed to take my time reading this book. Barry somehow in 360 pages gives each member of the team spotlight and a deep dive. The only character I think could have spent more time developing was Heather, I always forgot who she was whenever mentioned. If you want to read girls going apeshit wild to appease their witchcraft, look no further. 4.5 stars ⭐️
