These kids really have no luck at all!

So after suffering through hunger, dehydration and the loss/deaths of quite a few characters, it only seems fair for something else to come along and mess with these kids. This time the big threat to the people in the FAYZ is a flesh eating virus, and when I say flesh eating, I mean as in from the inside out. Snakes. Inside you. Eating you. Yes, it's a lovely image, but you will be reading a lot about that so I'd get used to it.

Characters do FINALLY get to grow in this entry too, gone are the days when the characters are stuck into their roles complaining but not doing anything about it. This takes place a little while after the last book, and a lot of things have changed from the get go. Sam has given up all leadership, Astrid is finally beginning to crack, some minor characters get a bit of comeuppance, things definitely go down in this entry, and it never really lets up either.

The whole Drake/Britney thing however is beginning to get a little contrived. I have a feeling they're going to drag this out over the last two entries but I'm just not enjoying the whole un-killable Drake thing, it makes things too predictable. He always seems to change into Britney whenever our cast of kids are in danger too so I found it all a little bit convenient after a while.

Overall, another decent entry in a somewhat unspectacular guilty pleasure series. Two more to go though, let's see where things head.
