Blood of Assassins by RJ Barker

4.0

4 stars out of 5

A definitive improvement to the first book.
The characters are more fleshed out, the stakes are higher and the pace is better.

Girton and his master were on the run for the past years after the events of the first book. but when Girton's master is poisoned during an attempt on their life, Girton came back to his old friend Rufta, who is at war with Tomas and Aydor (of course Aydor was a surprise as he seems to have grown up and become a better person) . Rufta agrees to help Girton, and in return, he asks Girton to finds out the spy in his council.

“We are cursed to be the sum of our deeds, black as they may be. They are like an arrow: once the shot is made, there is no escaping the consequences.”

The atmosphere, the action, the doubt of who is the spy , and the characters were the many excellent things abo this book.
