Thirteen year old Cookie's sister had a nervous breakdown on Christmas Eve that led to her stay in a psychiatric hospital for several months, this novel in verse is how Cookie coped with the confusion of losing the ability to see your sibling, and role model, when they are still physically there.

Cookie's growth is eclipsed by her sister's illness but it does exist. I'd have loved this book as a mentally ill 13 year old.
