Crime and Punishment, by Fyodor Dostoevsky
challenging
- Plot- or character-driven? Character
- Loveable characters? No
- Flaws of characters a main focus? Yes
I've already read the large majority of the rest of Dostoevsky's works and already knew that I don't like his writing and narrative style. I pushed through Crime and Punishment for it's place in literary canon, and that was a mistake. I absolutely despise this man's writing. I won't rate the book, because I don't think it's overtly bad literature and it doesn't deserve my horrible rating. Dostoevsky's writing and my taste just seem to be mutually exclusive.
Graphic: Murder and Suicide
Minor: Misogyny
