For me it’s hard to tell whether the reason I didn’t love this book was the actual plot or the narrator. The narrator was like…. Siri. Very robotic, hard to distinguish who was talking, and the spicy scenes were so awkward.

The story itself was fun- I love a good cult/commune theme and this story had a little Greek mythology twisted in- classic Katee Robert. I definitely didn’t guess the killer and was interested the whole time. Didn’t love the “love” story because it felt a little out of place. This may have been because the narrator was kind of cringey.

My favorite parts were when MC Eden went back to the commune where she was raised to help investigate whether her mother and her cult following were involved in the disappearances and murders of two young women. The gaslighting was phenomenal, as was the brainwashing of these young members. The cult had its roots in the story of Persephone, Demeter and Hades which was very on brand. The ritualistic killing of women and branding with tattoos was
