My friends who said this felt like a full length novel with how fleshed out these characters were weren’t kidding! Novellas are always hit or miss with me and this one was definitely a hit. Lilith and Vale were EVERYTHING and I loved that we were essentially thrown right into the storyline. But despite the fact we were thrown right in, I never felt lost or confused. Everything was explained and weaved together beautifully and I’m very excited for more Lilith and Vale in future CoN novels.

For such a short novel this was packed full of the intense need to keep reading though because the tension between Vale and Lilith was PALPABLE and the fact they organically grew into their relationship was perfect. Lilith’s drive is so familiar to me and I found her to be so relatable to myself. I also don’t really know how to connect with people, it’s hard for me to really try to put myself out there and make those connections and to see that represented by someone who still has people who love her was so refreshing.
