The Angry Wife by Pearl S. Buck

5.0

What a beautiful, sad, remarkable novel. This is the first Pearl Buck I’ve ever read, but it will not be the last. This story of a family making the life transition from post-Civil War West Virginia through to probably just before WWII is something to behold. It’s frustrating from this side of history, but I can imagine this type of experience occurring all over the US during this time frame. Buck has captured it exquisitely and this book demands to be read.
