Anne of the Island by L.M. Montgomery

5.0

I'm fairly certain this is the last Anne book I finished back in middle school.

I've always been a sucker for "going off to college" and "found family" storylines; add in "enemies to friends to lovers" and I'm hooked.

By this book, Rachel and Marilla have moved in together. Not the most important plot point but this is the book where I became most convinced they were lovers.

(Note: I'm re-reading the fourth right now, but I've never enjoyed epistolary novels! We'll see if I can make it through this one!)
