This reads like a modern version of a classic 19th century novel. The suspense, the drama, the love story...it's all absolutely thrilling. The romance between Maggie and Nicholas is just heart-stopping and I loved how Matthews leaned all the way into the adventure and the drama with this one. The writing is lovely as always and I adored all the historical details, especially the fashion. This was fun, moving, and pure excellence from start to finish.
