The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
5.0
I really liked this book! I listened to an audiobook for this one and the actress was really good. This a great book in order to understand micro aggressions and the systemic oppression of black people in North America. This is also a good way to discuss how the system oppresses and discriminates against people for the colour of their skin and their heritage. This is also easily applicable to indigenous people in Canada as they are the survivors of harsh police treatment and discrimination for the colour of their skin. I also really love how Star began recognizing her own preconceived thoughts and challenged them, and cut someone toxic out of her life because of it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
