The Nameless Dark: A Collection by Nathan Ballingrud, T.E. Grau

4.0

I've grown a little weary of Lovecraft homages and Cthulhu mythos additions this year, but there is enough variety here to keep me well interested anyway. "Return of the Prodigy," and "Mr. Lupus" were my standout favorites. "Transmission" did a fantastic job of putting me in a place and making me see it. Goodness, you can feel the heat coming off the road and the sand. "Twinkle, Twinkle" almost made me cry. "Expat" caught me off-guard. This did what it was supposed to do. One of my favorite collections this year.
