This has really good bare bones of a story; unfortunately, I just don’t think it was executed super well.
The story takes place all in 3 days which is a really short amount of time for a love story. While vampires may not sleep, Cari does and she’s dead asleep for half the story. I think had the events taken place over a couple weeks it would’ve given time for the characters to develop and events to pan out. But, we ended up with a quick instalove story with 20 events thrown into a short period.
As I said, I liked the bones of the story and the plot that unfolds would’ve been good had there not been a glaring pothole towards the end. When the reasoning for a character’s actions towards Cari is revealed, the timeline doesn’t make sense as certain events hadn’t happened yet; therefore, undoing this whole storyline.
There were also aspects of BDSK in the story as there’s a sex club that includes these activities. However, the action is lacking. There are a couple small seasons but nothing of real note. When we finally get to the point where they’re going to do the deed it’s basically a fade to black. Just not my favorite, I want all the deets.
Now I did like the writing in the story and it read super quick. Outside of the inconsistencies and quick timeline, I did like the basics of the story. If you can get past the things I mentioned, this might be for you.
Moderate: Death, Sexual content, Suicidal thoughts, Violence, Grief, Car accident, and Death of parent
Minor: Emotional abuse and Physical abuse
