The Forest Grimm by Kathryn Purdie
4.0
An underrated gem! I adore a fairy tale retelling but admittedly I was apprehensive that this was going to be confusing and excessive based on the reviews. However, I completely disagree. There was a thread of a consistent narrative throughout all the fairytales that meant the fairytales actually progressed the plot and added to character development.
At the heart of it all, Clara wants to save her mother from The Forest Grimm. Accompanied by Axel and Henni, she faces a series of ‘lost’ village folk who are cursed i.e. they think they’re fairytale characters. Easy-reading, magical, fun. Also helped that my Fairyloot edition is pretty.
