Based upon the reviews, I assumed this wouldn't be a good book, but I found it to be surprisingly well written. Does this feel like Steven Erickson's Malazan? No. Is it a well written book? Yes.

Anyways I was pleasantly surprised with Night of Knives, and will absolutely be continuing the Esselmont books in my trek through Malazan
