Coat of Many Colors by Dolly Parton

4.0

I had never read this book and can't believe it took me this long to discover it. There is so many wonderful colors in here, also in the personality of the little girl at the center of this novel. Dolly really made a great childrens' book with this one, that my daughter and I truly adored.

There was a great story in here, and what it means to be grateful for what one has, without the need for envy or being petty to get more joy in one's life. Dolly brings her story to life in here and makes one full of emotions as the story progresses, without stop. Her family, and those memories of hers, are a beautiful treat.

My daughter really felt for Dolly when the bullies began to mentally attack her. But, a smile filled her face as we were shown that they don't damper her day for too long. And that's what I loved the most, that she perseveres and continues to be herself, even through the hardships and struggles that Dolly lived through. Making this one great read for any family to read together.
