Personally, I think Caraval was just a little bit better than this book, don’t get me wrong I absolutely adore this book but, in Caraval there were so many twists and turns and the magic was new which added to the allur. This book held a lot of different elements like the fates, which I love, however, I feel like it slightly took away from Tella growing as a character. Yes she did evolve over the course of the book but I would’ve liked to see that growth showcased a little more. Another thing I didn’t like was how Scarlett was basically just swept under the rug. We got quite a bit of Tella in Caraval but in Legendary we barely saw Scarlett and when we did she was having problems with Julian. This obviously wasn’t her book but even in her book Tella was a pretty prominent character. I was also slightly frustrated with some of Tella’s remarks toward Scarlett. SpoilerI can’t lie, Tella being 16 and Legend being….OLD throws me off. Like if she was 18 then MAYBE but….16?!?! And also…didn’t he like her grandmother? I truly hope that’s resolved because I’m not sure I have the mental stability for that plot line. And what happened to Rosa and Valentina? Was Val actually Dante’s sister? I’m pretty sure it was said that Rosa wasn’t Julian’s sister so who was she?
