It was a really fun, quick read. My only 'literary' criticism is that a lot of the encounters between the characters are way too coincidental to be realistic. However, once you accept that for what it is, it's a very minor defect.

I also appreciated how contemporary the characters seem. Obviously, as it's set in the 1970s, there are no cell phones or internet, but their lifestyles, problems, and references feel very relevant in the 21st century. I speculate that that's in part because the social milieu in which the book is set was culturally very ahead of its time.
