Overall, I thought this was a good book. It definitely sucked me in, the family dynamic was interesting from the beginning. The writing style was different from anything I’d read before, and the imagery and ties to nature were beautifully written. I found myself attached to the main character Betty, her father, and some of the siblings, and definitely found myself wanting to keep reading and see where the plot was headed. I feel like it sort of fell off for me in the last 150 pages or so. It just got too dark and tragic to the point where it felt a bit melodramatic. It was a bit too much of an emotional roller coaster towards the end with not much plot to back it up.
