it was. i thought it was going to be predictable and i’ll admit that they did catch me by surprise but i just.

i don’t like how parts of the veronica plot went and i don’t like that they just fully killed her dad

but it was also just like very YA and. idk it was all just a bit. a lot. also the romance is a bit back seat i feel like, like it could have been more like sweet moments and less drama. idk.

the main character’s ex girlfriend does very much kiss her unwanted and without consent. it’s very minor and not played off as something big and concerning, but that is very much something that happens.

the homophobia is fairly minor and not something that has a big impact on the character or her story, but it is there. details:

a male friend asks the main character out despite knowing she’s a lesbian, though he backs off pretty quickly. a creepy dude takes a video of two women kissing in because he’s fetishizing them. and the main character’s best friends parents are weird about her spending time with their daughter because she’s gay.
