Though it has been several months since I finished the Daevabad Trilogy, I found myself easily falling back into the world of Daevabad.

The River of Silver is a compilation of short stories that regale the tales of some of our favorite characters from the Daevabad Trilogy. The stories span from before The City of Brass, throughout the trilogy, and even include an alternative epilogue to The Empire of Gold. Chakraborty is even kind enough to add whether there will be spoilers or not, and for which book(s), at the beginning of each chapter.

I loved seeing each of the characters in the way their characters changed and grew throughout the trilogy. This compilation makes Chakraborty's other three books that much more meaningful. I highly recommend reading this companion novel after finishing the Daevabad Trilogy. It might also be fruitful to read the stories in chronological order as they occur within the novels.
