Dear Daughter by Elizabeth Little

3.0

Started off intriguing enough -- girl hates mom, mom ends up murdered, girl's name written in blood by mom using blood from her bullet wound, girl spends 10 years in jail only to be released on an evidence technicality. And all in the first few chapters! I greatly wanted to get into this book, but I have to admit I got a bit lost in the middle. Way too many secondary characters that were somehow related and difficult to keep track of. What this book needs? One of those family trees on the inside cover! I enjoyed the main character's dry wit and shelter-dog mentality, but some of the twists and turns seemed out of the blue and the suspense is spread too thin. Great ending, though -- irony at its finest!
