Dead Devil's Night by Maree Rose

5.0

This fantastic novella has it all - death, vengeance, and spice!

Once a year on Dead Devil's Night, the city runs riot, rules no longer exist, and similar to the Purge, the most wicked come out to play. It's on that night that Rylan loses it all. She's attacked in her home by a group of five men, assaulted sexually, stabbed, forced to watch her soulmates and best friends die, and then left to die herself. Only Rylan isn't ready to give up and spends the next 12 months preparing to show the five men who stole her world that her vengeance reigns supreme and Dead Devil's Night just got a lot more dangerous - for them at least.

As Rylan begins to carry out her plan, attacking the men one by one, the author shows a real talent for her super imaginative scenes that are bloody and gory and super satisfying. Rylan's character plays on her appearance and sexuality and uses her body as a strength, but her dark and twisted mind is just as formidable. We soon learn that Rylan isn't the only one out for vengeance this night and this brings out the chance for twists, turns, and an amazing reunion that goes off with a bang! Quite literally.

I loved the spice and interactions between Rylan and her men. As a victim of SA, it wasn't the easiest for her but the chemistry between them all sizzled and they provided some hot and steamy passion, including in the back of a car.

The ending was a great twist that I wasn't expecting but thoroughly enjoyed. It answered questions but also opened up the potential for the story of Rylan and her men to continue.
