The Feather Thief: Beauty, Obsession, and the Natural History Heist of the Century by Kirk Wallace Johnson
3.0
Real rating: 3.5 stars
What I thought was going to be a book about a museum theft in the name of environmentalism, ended up being about fly tying, which took me on a journey of this weird theft and the consequences (or not) thereof.
This book really got an emotional reaction as I was furious at this person stealing from a museum. And I'm glad the author didn't try to spin Wrist to be sympathetic, because I in no way find him to be sympathetic
My main problem was the way the crime itself was set up. From the reviews I thought there would be twists at the end... but there wasn't? Like, the story is very interesting, but I just kept expecting more based on reviews. Also, there's a very sudden discussion of autism in the middle and I just... didn't know what to make of it.
