Honestly, I purchased this book because of the cat on the cover and the fact this talks about coffee. Who knew it would be the first contender for my #1 read of 2020?
Knowing nothing of this story was the greatest delight. I found myself easily becoming immersed in this surprisingly heartfelt story from page one. Set in a small coffee shop in beautiful Tokyo, patrons have a riveting opportunity... the opportunity to travel back in time.
Toshikazu Kawaguchi makes a surreal premise seem real. Four lightly woven tales. Four emotional journeys. It is a beautiful exploration into the human condition - with no frills about it. The succinct writing style is refreshing and makes the tale the perfect travelling read.
A must read of 2020 for all.
