Lane Steen (the protagonist) became immediately endeared to my heart. Every character in this novel is well-developed, and Candace got her characters "right." I'm ready to learn what's next for each them. It's not often that my emotions get entangled so deeply in the book I'm reading, but so much of this story hit close to home.
Candace wrote her novel in 1st person. This is not my favorite to read. However, the 1st person narrative is so seamlessly woven with the dialogue throughout the book you quickly forget. And, to be honest, I really cannot imagine it being written as effectively from any other point-of-view.
