I knew I was going to rate this 5 stars well before I had finished the book.
I was raised by the theatre and immersed myself in Shakespeare. This book brought me right back to being immersed into a theatre obsessed group of friends and the emotional stakes that obsessed so much of our lives. The escapism we used in quoting the work at each other.
I was mesmerized through the recreation of what felt like intimate memories and the dark, dark truth this book shed light into. I hated everyone in the book, I loved everyone in the book. I had guessed the twist, but still was devastated by it.
This book won’t be for everyone. But if you loved theatre, especially Shakespeare, and felt like you only ever fit in the world when you were pretending to be someone else on stage - this book is for you.
