Radio Silence by Alice Oseman

4.0

“I’m only ever walking where you’ve walked, I’m in your dark blue shadow and you never seem to turn around to find me there.
I wonder sometimes whether you’ve exploded already, like a star, and what I’m seeing is you three million years into the past, and you’re not here any more. How can we be together here, now, when you are so far away? When you are so far ago? I’m shouting so loudly, but you never turn around to see me. Perhaps it is I who have already exploded.”

Possibly my new all time favorite book quote.

Wow. I don’t know how she does it, but Alice Oseman continues to write characters that feel so painfully familiar and personal. The friendship between Frances and Aled is so pure and sweet and beautiful it makes my heart ache. The entire concept behind this book was so unique. I love that the story follows the rise of the podcast, but it’s not really about the podcast. It’s about the people. Oseman really has a way of making you fall in love with these characters that are strange and flawed because they feel deeply authentic.

I loved this book, and I will be thinking about it for a long time. 4.5/5 stars
