A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership by James Comey

4.0

I don't usually read political books because I am terrible at keeping up with the news and I need to do a lot of my own research to judge what the author says is happening in the book. but this book appealed to me because I love hearing people's stories and experiences. I don't know exactly what I was expecting when I started reading this book but it gave the reader a glimpse into what it is like working in politics. I liked getting a feel for what a day would be like in the FBI or the department of justice. I know that is Comey's perspective of what happened and it is filtered through his lense of experience but I think he made a strong effort to acknowledge his own biases and flaws. I know the media has been saying that this book says terrible things about Trump and really slams him but honestly, very little of the book is about him. to me, it was way more about ethics and leadership and how hard it is to navigate those things in tough situations. overall, I enjoyed this book and I am glad I read it.
