City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

2.0

It’s more of a 2.5/5.

Clary is- she’s quite simply very annoying at times, maybe it’s because it’s been years since this books release and I am far too over the whole “breathtakingly gorgeous girl who doesn’t think she’s beautiful” trope as well as her genuinely being kind of useless at times even though I know that’s obviously like she can’t control it. There are a lot of things that did kind of peeve me off but again these were loosely pointed out including the whole Clary has no idea that Simon is in love with her thing (she’s kinda dumb).

I really enjoyed the characters and the world and of course I’m about 5000 years late on this bandwagon as per usual so just to reiterate, I’m reading this because I miss the show (I get a lot of parts of it are apparently terrible) but Malec- malec is perfection. So I guess this has nothing to do with the book but I already knew about a lot of the plot points etc and even then I still think that some of the reveals are quite obvious.

I did love Simon and I loved Jace ans was surprised at the rocky and hostile nature of Izzy and Clary at the start considering it’s so different in the show but I’m gonna enjoy hopefully seeing that really really develop.

Overall this book was good? Could have been better could have been worse but mostly I’m just excited to see growth, clarification and development in the rest of the series.

ALSO I DID IT, AFTER YEARS AND YEARS I FINALLY READ A CASSANDRA CLARE BOOK.
