Waking the Dragon by Juliette Cross
4.0
Waking the Dragon has a world with two different species inhabiting a world that is mostly segregated; one species is human and the other being a human dragon hybrid called Morgons. As with any segregated society you’re going to have a lot of prejudice. Gladium Province is the only province where the two species intermingle freely and of course there are those that would like to stop that from happening.
Our mcs are Moira Cade a human and Kol Moonring a Morgon. The story centers around their romance that is a bit on the insta side but seems to mesh alright. Moira inserts herself into an ongoing investigation that Kol is running that deals with a serial killing group of Morgon’s. Being thrown together was not Kol’s plan but he doesn’t have a lot of choice and he makes the best of it. This killing group is extremely violent; Moira gets kidnapped by them uncovering a far larger plot than originally thought.
This was an entertaining read and there is lots of potential moving forward. This would be an adult book for extreme violence; all victims but one is raped.
