Lenin on the Train by Catherine Merridale

4.0

This is such a good book!
Catherine Merridale writes like a novellist; you really feel like you get to know the "characters" as you read. But that's just the thing: they're not characters, this is real life! I'm interested in this era of history but I don't know a great deal about Russia. I found this book really informative and I genuinely enjoyed reading it. You get a real sense of thrill and shock from what's going on. I think a little more knowledge of the revolution in general might've helped as this book tends to focus on political conversations and sentiment rather than actual events. Having said that though, most people reading this probably have a much better understanding of the Russian Revolution than I do!
Generally though, a very good read. Intriguing and informative, definitely one to recommend.
