The Long Hard Road Out of Hell by Neil Strauss, Marilyn Manson

4.0

Part self-aggrandizing memoir, part pretentious manifesto, this book could hardly be mistaken for a work of literature. But as a ghost-written celebrity auotbigraphy this is hard to beat. Definitely not for the faint of heart. But even my disillusionment with Manson as an artist and my disappointment with his more recent work has not dimmed my enthsiasm for this engrossing (if sometimes also gross) document from a fascinating artist at the height of his originality.
