I really liked this book because of how grounded and real it felt. It wasn’t some fantastical kidnapping plot with an unbelievable story but it almost felt like it could’ve been a true crime book. The characters were written well however the pacing took a nose dive in the last couple hundred pages. The story was a little sluggish with a lot of detail that I didn’t feel was necessary but nevertheless it was a great book with an intriguing story that leads well into the second book.
