The writing style of this novel is a treasure: it feels like it's being narrated by an oppressively outgoing coworker who quickly becomes a best friend in vignettes littered with self-deprecating anecdotes and humorous references to pop culture, but the subjects covered here are serious and the journey is ultimately fulfilling. I think autobiographical fiction can be quite difficult to buy into at times, but I didn't find that to be an issue here, because the voice is so clear and honest and demands inside reflection of situations that many of us are too privileged to ever experience. A fantastic and genuinely funny book.
