this was such a cute and sweet book! I love Gene and Luis and I was rooting for them the whole time. 

The representation in this book is great, the author handles anxiety and ADHD very realistically and it was very relatable for me. I also enjoyed the diversity of the side characters and how many queer characters were in this story. 

 I also just love that Gene was trans and a professional athlete and that it wasn’t a big deal. Of course there were some discussions about what it’s like being trans playing professional baseball but Gene being trans wasn’t this big thing he had to overcome, it’s just who he is and he gets to experience joy and achieve his goals and basically live his life how he wants. 

Given the current political climate and how the government is actively trying to erase the trans community as I type this review, I’m really glad this book about trans joy and love and excellence exists and that I got to read it, it’s exactly what I needed right now 🩵💗.
