Bring Me Back by B.A. Paris

5.0

Thank you St. Martin's Press for sending me a finished copy of Bring Me Back.

Finn meets Layla and they fall in love. They go on vacation and on their way back they stop at a rest stop. Finn gets out and tells Layla to lock the doors. But when he comes back out from the restroom, Layla is gone. That's what Finn tells the police anyway. Years later, Finn starts dating Layla's sister, Ellen and they are now engaged. But since the announcement of their wedding, odd things are happening. Someone says they spotted Layla and now long-lost items are showing up at Finn and Ellen's house. Finn is also receiving emails from a stranger who seem to know a lot. Finn and Ellen question whether Layla is still alive and if she is, what does she want.

The ending of this book is just how I love thrillers. Unpredictable. I will say that I thought I knew for sure how the ending was going to play out and I was completely wrong! B.A. Paris has a way with writing that I just love. I love the endings of all of her books and how unpredictable they are. I love the suspicion around the story and her characters and I will always buy and read her books.

I almost instantly loved Layla's character. Though there's really nothing special about her, she's different than the other girls that Finn typically goes for. They are young and in love and everything just goes south. Finn seemed okay, but he keeps too many secrets. He receives a lot of emails and never once tells Ellen. Which is just so aggravating! I also quite enjoyed Ellen's character. She's more quiet and not as outgoing as Layla but she never questions whether Finn loves her more than he loved Layla. She doesn't seem like the jealous type and she really loves Finn. The story is just so good. I question everything multiple times and I was still wrong in the end. I really don't like predictable endings and this one did not disappoint. By the time I closed the book, I was so in shock.

Obviously, this is a mystery thriller so I can't go into too much detail but I loved it! The Breakdown is still my favorite B.A. Paris novel but this is a close second. I highly recommend it if you like thrillers and if you have read her other two books, The Breakdown and Behind Closed Doors, I'm sure you will love this one.
