Outside Looking In by A.J. Truman

5.0

This has by far been my favorite Browerton book. While I have enjoyed the series, I wasn’t exactly looking forward to this one because I *really* wasn’t a fan of Nathan’s in Rafe’s story. Yes, he’s the classic bad boy acting out because of his secret, tragic history, but I wasn’t sure he was redeemable. Wow, was I wrong. The personal growth A.J. Truman achieves with his character is exponential. He manages to make his character, his experiences and his emotions believable and, perhaps best of all, relatable.

While this is the second installment to take place away from Browerton’s campus proper, I didn’t mind the change of scenery. It’s nice to see how life goes on outside of the microcosm of a college campus, and the characters are tangential. I actually can’t imagine Nathan’s character being able to work through his issues and discover himself anywhere else.
