American Gods by Neil Gaiman

5.0

This story was recommended to me by a co-worker. I wouldn't say this is my normal genre, but it was such a great story. So imaginative. And so well fashioned. I loved that we didn't know who Shadow was or why he was so important until very near the end. I loved how all the gods were introduced. I loved that new gods were created based on what people were worshiping. I loved how the gods of all the different cultures around the world were included and even melded together. It was just a fascinating story with fascinating characters, and I very much enjoyed it. Very good recommendation from my co-worker!

2nd listening: I'm glad I re-listened to this. It was just about four years ago I listened to it the first time, and after the first two episodes of American Gods on STARZ, it was clear I had forgotten a lot of the details. Considering how slowly they're going with the series, I may forget details again by the time all is said and done, lol, but I'm better prepared for this season. Still a great, super interesting, super imaginative series.
