It was alright, perhaps underwhelming just like Crossroads of Twilight while being a prequel that's shorter than all other books. It gives you further insight into how Moiraine's journey started and how she met Lan. It had some interesting moments especially where certain characters show up and if you are really invested in Lan and Moiraine, you would probably enjoy the extra time you get to spent with them. However as a standalone book, I felt like the story was rather weak where nothing interesting or important happens for a while due to Jordan's detailed descriptions about unnecessary things as usual, while having an ending that's super rushed. While I didn't have any struggle reading it, I felt like it could have been trimmed further as a novella or focused more on interactions between the main characters instead. Ultimately, it's a nice palate cleanser that differs in tone from previous books and might even make you feel nostalgic, but I do not think you would miss out much if you skip reading it either.
