The March by E.L. Doctorow

3.0

This was a good book. It captured a flavor for Sherman's March that I'd never read before - that of the hanger's on and those ancillary to the military divisions. It was a story of the doctors, nurses, freed slaves, deserters, and the newly homeless, or hopeless. It wasn't a great work of literary prowess, but it was an enjoyable read; engaging and paced like a page-turner.
