Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë

dark emotional tense slow-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Strong character development? It's complicated
  • Loveable characters? No

3.0

I enjoyed many parts and how heightened the stakes were for every character. However, I felt like I was seeing everything through five layers of frosted glass with the amount of second-hand and third-hand narratives that were being recounted. Mr Lockwood's only purpose was to deliver us to Mrs Dean, the vessel of the story. He wasn't even the vessel, he was just the road to get there.
